How to Play
Learn the rules, controls, and scoring system for Syllabyte.
Each puzzle presents you with a definition and a set of scrambled syllables. Your job is to tap the syllables in the correct order to spell out the word that matches the definition.
"A state of perfect happiness"
Tap syllables to build the word. Faded tiles are already placed.
Skip (Unlimited)
Stuck on a word? Skip it and come back later. You have unlimited skips with no penalty. The one caveiat is you can't go back only forward.
Shuffle (Unlimited, No Penalty)
Rearranges the syllable tiles randomly. Sometimes seeing them in a different order helps you spot the word. Use it as many times as you want.
Hint (One Per Word, -25 Points)
Reveals and locks the first syllable of the current word. You get one hint per word, and each costs 25 points. The hint button is disabled if you've already placed syllables.
Tap to Place or Remove
Tap a syllable tile to add it to your answer. Tap a placed syllable to remove it. The answer auto-submits when all slots are filled.
4 mistakes per word. After 4 wrong guesses, the word is revealed and you move on. Each mistake costs 25 points.
Scoring
Score = 1000 - Time - (Mistakes x 25) - (Hints x 25)
Minimum score is 0. Time is measured in seconds.
Base Score: 1000 points
Everyone starts with 1000 points. Your goal is to keep as many as possible by finishing quickly and accurately.
Time Penalty: -1 point per second
The clock starts when the puzzle loads. Every second costs you 1 point. A 60-second solve loses 60 points.
Mistake Penalty: -25 points each
Each incorrect guess costs 25 points. Think carefully before your answer auto-submits.
Hint Penalty: -25 points each
Each hint costs 25 points. You get one hint per word, which reveals the first syllable.

30 seconds, 0 mistakes, no hints

90 seconds, 2 mistakes, no hints

Speed matters most. The time penalty is constant, so faster solves always win.

Avoid guessing. One mistake costs 25 seconds worth of time. Be confident before filling all slots.

Skip and shuffle freely. Both are free and unlimited. Don't waste time on a word you're stuck on.
