1. Introduction

Syllabyte ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service"). Please read this policy carefully. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

  • Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and username. You may also sign in using Google OAuth, in which case we receive your name and email from Google.
  • Profile Data: Your chosen username, which is displayed on leaderboards and shared results.
  • User Content: Game results, scores, streaks, and statistics you generate while playing.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Device Information: A randomly generated device identifier (UUID) stored locally on your device for analytics deduplication. We do not collect your hardware ID, IMEI, or other permanent device identifiers.
  • Usage Data: Puzzle completion times, game modes played, view events, and engagement metrics to improve the Service.
  • Analytics: We use Vercel Analytics to collect anonymized, aggregated usage data such as page views and performance metrics. No personally identifiable information is collected through analytics.

2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

  • Location data (GPS, IP-based geolocation)
  • Contact lists or address book data
  • Photos, camera, or microphone access
  • Financial or payment information (the Service is free)

  • Send transactional emails (account confirmation, password resets)
  • Analyze aggregated usage patterns to improve gameplay and content
  • Prevent abuse and ensure fair play

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share information only in the following circumstances:

  • Service Providers: We use Supabase for authentication and database services, and Vercel for hosting and analytics. These providers process data on our behalf under strict data protection agreements.
  • Public Leaderboards: Your username and scores may appear on public leaderboards if you opt into ranked play.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or other legal process.
  • Safety: We may disclose information to protect the safety of our users or the public.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase (hosted on AWS) with encryption at rest and in transit. We implement industry-standard security measures including Row Level Security (RLS) policies, secure authentication with hashed passwords, and HTTPS-only connections. While no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Game results and statistics are retained to maintain leaderboards and historical records. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal information within 30 days, though anonymized, aggregated analytics data may be retained indefinitely.
